Literature Text

Tell me a tale on my bedside
One for the ages, one to pass on
A tale of concern, drama
One where not only happy endings reside
Something real, nothing fantastic
Perhaps the tale of AURYN and Atreyu
I wish to know of the Ouroboros
And the truth behind infinity

A twisted yarn
A tangent of destiny
No longer one, but a split end
The time line taken over by The Nothing

A tainted lullaby
A song to keep me up at night
One where the mocking bird cries
and the looking glass breaks

A malignant parable
Where the plot comes full circle
So no progress is made
No lesson learned

A morose epic
Where Jörmungandr has swallowed immortality
To the misbelief of those who worked so hard
Easy come, easy go

A melancholic myth
Where a flame must beg relief
from a fire much more contagious
He must fight fire with fire

A corrupt chronicle
Where a king is betrayed
stabbed by the members of his court
the most loyal have the most painful betrayals

A forlorn fable
With no ending at all
Where no tragic hero dares to fall
But one that keeps going, so every night…

You may tell me another story
I wrote the majority of this back before my computer decided to crash with all my info on it. Well I got it back from the dead and then added the last stanza. I wanted a happy ending. Or better yet, no ending at all. A true tale of ages, one that never ends.
The overall concept was inspired simply by me and my life.
The idea popped into my head by listening to:
"Hold your breath to keep it trapped with secrets
'Till your turning cold blue with guilt
Still, no blood is spilled
Had I seen the plot twist coming
Would I've checked out the book
And even if I was dead
You would never be off the fucking hook

When you kiss me
Do you still taste her
Are you thinking of, are you thinking of me
With your lips pressed tightly up against his skin
Does your body still scream my name
Does your body still scream my ...?

Can you take it, while I fake it?
Can you take it, while I fake it?"

~Atreyu's 'Our Sick Story [Thus Far]'

Which is where I got the title from.
